Question About Nortel Networks Cordless Telephone T7316E

I foolishly tried to install an answering machine on the phone,now none of the lines out or in work.When I pick up the phone when it rings I can hear them but all they get is nothing!!Help did I deprogram it or something ,someone please tell me what I did wrong??
