Hi - I have the Digital Answering System Telephone...

Hi - I have the Digital Answering System Telephone with Time/Day and Speakerphone 1830. The answering machine isn't picking up messages. The "0" in the message window flashes, except when I put the phone on speaker. I did replace the batteries. Do you know how I can fix the machine?
