Question About Lucent Technologies Answering Machine 1720
blinking light where # of mess goes...

The machine's 4 AA batteries were low so the # (0) in the LCD screen that usually displays the # of messages received started blinking AND the "low battery" light just above it was lit. I changed all 4 batteries plus hit the reset button on the back. The "low battery" light went off, but the blinking 0 will not stop blinking and the machine does NOT answer calls. Can anyone tell me what more I need to do?

0 my batteries went dead and the machine went off. There is a message on here from my father who passed away recently and I was wondering if there was any way to recover the messages.
