Question About Geemarc Telephone CL1100

recently purchased CL1100 for my father who is unable to set it up correctly and to be honest the instructions are not very helpful. Please explain the switches - tone/pulse/grounding also time break recall. While the telephone works we cannot get it to ring on incoming calls properly.
