Battery charging problem...

Unit does not charge up a new replacement battery. Battery is 3.6V, 700mAh. Have tried two new batterys. charging each at 15 hours. All else OK. The 9 volt power supply reads 11.1 volts DC at the charging contacts. The battery and the DC power xfmr are slightly warm to the touch.
