My Bluetooth doesn't let me know when I'm receivin...

My Bluetooth doesn't let me know when I'm receiving a call I can only hear once I have answered my call. Should it ring or make a sound to let me know I'm receiving a call or do I have to keep my ringer volume up loud so ill know.
