no dialling tone on display it shows telephone "ext" how do I delete this to restore dialling tone. The other extension works?

5 The phone is telling you that another extension is in use. Sometimes these will have an error that causes this. First, try resetting all phones on this line by placing them in the recharge cradle. Now try to use it. If it still does it, then next u want to disconnect all phones except the one your having problems with, reset this phone again and see if it works. If not, theres a defect with that receiver. If it works, then start plugging your other phones back in 1 at a time amd rechecking the problem phone. If you plug 1 in and it happens again then u have a problem with the receiver you just plugged in. Now, as far as what the problem is once you find the culprit, you can try a new battery. If that doesnt work, you will need to replace it.
