The speaker light is constantly blinking and will not stop. How do I turn it off on my AT&T 7406 plus?

5 After the voice system upgrade, the speaker buttons will be flashing on 7406 Plus and 7444 telephone sets. To stop the speaker light from flashing: Press the SELECT button Press the SPEAKER button You will hear a series of tones and the SPEAKER will be reset.
