at&t 874 4 line phone makes a continuous beeping(...

at&t 874 4 line phone makes a continuous beeping(short ring) sound . I'm not sure why . I think is started when the power went off so the only way I found to stop it was by pushing the dnd button but of course then the phone doesn't ring. Any suggestions. Thanks, Suellen
