5 If your answering machine is still in working condition, then the problem might be caused by the machine's memory being full. You can erase an individual message by pressing the DELETE button while the message is playing. You can hold the DELETE button to erase all the stored messages. I have attached a PDF file of the 1718's manual. Page 5 shows the basic commands; page contains some troubleshooting information. I hope this information helps resolve the problem!
