I have an AT&T 1831 answering machine after a short power outage it now only blinks 0 in the number of messages and will not clear. I have unplugged and removed batteries over night, this did not do anything to correct the problem.

0 When this happens to me, I depress the reset button, press & release the change button, then press ANNC and record a new message, then press stop. The problem I have is losing the saved messages and don't know if they can be recovered. Any thoughts on this?
