having problem with the battery charging. the new battery is installed and the phone shows battery charging. after awhile the phone screen does not show anything. This is for Model #1718 To record just press and hold annc/skip and record your greeting. When you are finished release and the machine will play message back. If you don't like the message you recorded, press delete and repeat step 1. Hope this helps.
