I contacted customer support at 1-800-968-9853 to find out why the unit has to be reset to selected settings every time it's turned off ( meters/miles, time zone, time and favorite adresses, etc.- it returns toit's default settings - grat if you live in Toronto Canada). Apparantly it's a manufacturing defect and they have just accepted it. All they could do was apologize with no offers to repair it. The unit works great, but expect to set it up every time it's turned on.
I wouldn't have bought this unit if I knew it would perform this way.

GPS returns to default settings when powered down

I had the same issue at first, but I think I found a solution... hope this is right, but my settings are staying after I power down. After navigation is through, go to Settings, then Regional Settings and make your changes.
Go back out to the main menu and go to the next screen using the ">" button.
Then to to "Exit". When you exit this way it prompts you if you really want to exit... when you say exit it saves your changes.
I also learned that you can disable the sounds and beeps in teh main menu when you first turn the system on. It is under System. This is where you change your time zone, volume, Date, and time.
These settings also stay when you turn the unit off. I realized as I used this device that the time shown on the screen is the Estimated Time of Arrival not the time of day. This is great how this works.
My only complaint so far is that all the addresses and streets are not in the system at least in Rural areas... any comments on this?
